American propaganda at its best, once again...(30 sec)
So, the live C-span feed wasn't interrupted in any way. A channel most Americans have. That's enough to make me think it wasn't a conspiracy, just an error made by the CBC. Of course if all broadcasts had somehow been cut at once I'd be very suspicious.

I can't blame people for jumping to conclusions. But you'll actually find the only thing cut was Condoleezza's response. <sarcasm> Perhaps those liberal cannucks don't want you to her the administration's side. </sarcasm>

Fox news cut off a 12 year old girl!
Mostly I'm impressed by the two women, they must have known that fox would try to spin it as though they were running from Russian bombs. It's difficult to tell from that video that the commercial break was unscheduled, if so that's awful but not surprising.

I still don't know what to think of the conflict, but I certainly see it as a gray area with neither side being blameless. It was reckless of Saakashvili to try to reclaim south ossetia despite the Russian promises to intervene. Then again, I'm not sure Russia has the right to intervene in another country's civil war. Any more then we did with Vietnam.

Little girl deemed not cute enough to represent China
And she's not the only adorable little kid faking it at the opening ceremonies. It recently came out that the 56 children meant to represent china's various ethnic groups were all members of the han majority, just dressed up as minorities.

Ironically they included many of the other kids who tried out for the national anthem. Yang Paiyi herself replaced a 10 year old that had originally won the competition, but was deemed too old to be adorable enough.

John McCain: Dazed and Confused
This may not be a popular comment to make here on the sift. But I strongly agree with his position on delivering bottled hot water to dehydrated babies. It's the least they deserve.

Hysterical Bird Murderer
I don't know, I think to have a breakdown like that you need to be more then sheltered and innocent. I bet the girl has some pent up guilt over other things. Perhaps she's having flashbacks to other animals or people she's accidentally murdered. . . Yes that would make sense.

Darth Is Sick Of Writing Parking Tickets....
Yeah, those ads were irritating. It's not as though they hosted the clip, or created the content. They just uploaded family guy to youtube. A service young basement-dwelling misanthropes have been providing ad-free for the last 3 years.

The Amazing Lyrebird of Australia - Unseen Footage
You can see the original unadulterated footage in this sift: http://www.videosift.com/video/Lyrebird-Unbelievable-Jungle-Bird-Mimics-Bird-and-Human-Sounds

It's worth checking out, he does some amazing imitations not shown in this clip.

Scorpion vs. Crayfish
I guess what makes this cruel and unethical is that it's forced. If this were a nature video of insects fighting on their own in the wild, I might find it interesting. But as it is, to me this is about as distasteful as someone making a video of themselves tearing the legs of a scorpion. Just cruelty for cruelty's sake.

Johnny Cash - Hurt
I don't know, I think it's surprising how the feelings are very much the same, despite the differience of age and perspective. It was always a song about regret, loss, and feeling tired of life (and yourself). Often when young men express that we dismiss it as being angst ridden and immature. As if their misery was an indulgence. And it seems to be for a few, but there are others that are really just struggling to hold on to life.
